Wow.. that Postpartum Period

Oh my goodness, so that Postpartum Period and your new baby can surely put you through a rollercoaster ride…

We get it; you’re so mesmerized by your tiny bundle of joy that you may have overlooked yourself for a bit. Just like this saying about putting on your own life vest first before assisting others; does it ring a bell? Have you been doing that?

More often than not, during the postpartum period, we have the tendency to get all caught up in the whirlwind life of motherhood that we unknowingly set our own needs aside, which makes it quite challenging for us to determine the kind of help and caring that we need.

To all the amazing and selfless new parents out there: we can see right through you. We see the way your eyes twinkle and sparkle with joy. The overflowing love and gratitude in your heart are hard to go unnoticed, as well as your anticipation and eagerness.

However, we also see through the fatigue.

We can feel the exasperation.

We know about the overflowing diaper bucket, and then the dried and cracked nipples.

We see you haven’t been able to stock your fridge and have relied mostly on take-out services.

We noticed the mounting pile of untouched gifts and scattered post-it thank you notes and cards.

We can sense you are in dire need of a refreshing, long bath as well as new sets of bed covers.

But most of all, we can see your need to talk about it. To find some solace and peace of mind during such a pivotal moment in your life known as the postpartum period.

We know that before your precious little one came into the world, you had more control and freedom over your time. All of that changes once you have tiny humans to look after, and we understand the challenges and unexpected occasional hiccups it may entail along the way.

We know that it can be exhausting and frustrating for you, but we want you to know that what you’re feeling is okay. As a matter of fact, this is something we’d like to help you get through; we are here for you.

While there are tons of classes out there to help us get through the motions of caring for a newborn, such as breastfeeding and diaper changing classes, no one can really tell us exactly what to expect when the baby comes into this world.

But the emotions you are currently feeling are UNNOTICED, and we, at Doulas of the Valley in Arizona are your partners during these crucial moments.

We are with you in your postpartum journey, both through the ups and downs.

We want to carve a safe sanctuary for you where you can relieve and free yourself from those pent-up emotions.

We are your mentors and confidante; we can share additional family tips and we’d be happy to lend our ears to anything you want to share with us, and rest assured that it will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

The bottom line is, this journey isn’t easy.

Caring for a newborn while dealing with birth recovery is no picnic at the park, and we want to remind you that this isn’t something you have to deal with alone, and you don’t ever have to be. Just give us a call, and we’re more than happy to assist and listen to you in any way.

Doulas of the Valley will provide equally skilled and loving care to families in Maricopa County that it has offered New York families for nearly 20 years.
