The postpartum doulas serving Scottsdale in 2026 range from solo practitioners who do every shift themselves to agencies that match you with one of several doulas or newborn care specialists. Below are seven options that say on their own websites that they work in Scottsdale, including us, with what each offers and who it tends to suit.

Scottsdale is a long city. A family in South Scottsdale near the Tempe line and a family out past Pinnacle Peak are more than twenty miles apart, and not every doula covers both ends equally. So beyond services, the practical question is whether a provider already works in your part of town and how they handle overnight shifts.

How we chose

1. Doulas of the Valley

We’re a mother-daughter practice founded by Debbie Aglietti Forbes, and our office is here in Scottsdale. Our certified doulas are nurse-informed, and between us we have nearly two decades of experience and more than 1,000 families behind us. We ranked ourselves first because this is our home city and our own work, not because an outside body rated us.

Most of what we do in Scottsdale homes is postpartum doula care, in day shifts and overnights: feeding support, newborn care, and protecting a parent’s recovery. Because we also offer newborn care education, travel and adoption support, families who need more than one kind of help can keep the same team. Haven was started by co-owners Danielle Rothery and Jaclyn Wilson, who describe themselves as friends and mothers of Irish twins. Their Scottsdale page lists overnight newborn care, daytime postpartum support, feeding guidance, newborn education and support for parents as they recover.

What sets the offer apart is a resort option: their site describes a two-to-four-night stay at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale with postpartum doula support in a casita. If recovering at a hotel appeals, ask how that package works.

3. Sacred Hands Postpartum Doula

Feeding support and meal prep from one consistent doula

Sacred Hands is run by Jess, who does the work herself. Her site lists credentials as a DONA International certified postpartum doula and a Certified Lactation Counselor, and packages built around breastfeeding and bottle-feeding guidance, meal prep, light housekeeping and groceries.

She also offers prenatal meal prep and nutrition coaching, so it can suit a family that wants the same person from late pregnancy into the fourth trimester. Her site recommends reaching out in the second trimester.

4. Happy Birthing AZ

Pairing postpartum shifts with classes you take before the birth

Happy Birthing AZ is best known for hypnobirthing classes, and it runs a postpartum doula service alongside them. Its postpartum page describes daytime visits with a four-hour minimum and overnight shifts of eight to ten hours, with feeding support, diaper changes and soothing through the night.

If you would rather have a doula help with breastfeeding than refer out, note that its site says its doulas give general breastfeeding support and can connect you with its IBCLC for more specialized help.

5. The Phoenix Poppins

Robyn, who runs The Phoenix Poppins from the South Mountain area, lists training as a DTI certified postpartum doula and a NICU doula, and a background of more than 20 years with families. Her site has a separate section on NICU and medically complex infant care.

That matters in Scottsdale because HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center has a Level III NICU (the 28-bed Bowe Special Care Nursery, per HonorHealth), so some local families come home after a stay there. Your pediatrician sets the care plan for a NICU graduate; a doula with this background helps you carry it out.

6. Modern Mama Doula Services

Modern Mama is a team led by Michelle Ludwig, a DONA certified doula, with a postpartum group that its site says is available for daytime or nighttime shifts. Each shift starts by asking what the mother needs most that day, whether that is a meal, a nap, or a lesson in babywearing.

The same team offers birth doulas, childbirth classes, placenta encapsulation and birth photography, which suits families who would rather deal with one company from pregnancy through the early weeks.

The NCS Agency is a placement agency rather than a single doula. Its site explains the difference between postpartum doulas, who it describes as focused on the whole family and typically working daytime visits, and newborn care specialists, who focus on the baby and often work overnight shifts.

Questions to ask before you choose

Do you already work in my part of Scottsdale?

Ask directly, and give your cross streets. A doula who regularly works near Gainey Ranch may be a longer drive from Troon North, and that can affect overnight start times. Our guide to questions to ask a doula has a fuller checklist.

Will it be the same person every shift?

Solo doulas usually say yes. Teams and agencies may rotate people or send a backup. Neither is wrong, but you should know which you’re signing up for, especially for overnights.

Is a postpartum doula the same as a newborn care specialist?

Not quite. Several providers on this list explain it the same way: a postpartum doula supports the whole family, including the recovering parent, while a newborn care specialist focuses on the baby, often overnight. Our piece on night doulas versus night nannies goes through the differences.

How do you handle safe sleep overnight?

Any overnight provider should follow your pediatrician’s plan. The American Academy of Pediatrics advises placing babies on their backs for every nap and at night, in a bassinet or crib with no incline. Ask how the doula sets up the sleep space, and read our safe sleep overview.
